According to the “Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region”, Macao SAR is under the policy of “one country, two systems”, where the people of Macao retain a high degree of autonomy as well as its original capitalist system and way of life.
According to the Administrative Regulation No. 3/2005 “Investors, Managerial Personnel, Technical and Professional Qualification Holders Temporary Residency Scheme”, those who wish to apply for residence in Macao can do so through the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute.
After approval, the applicant should submit a “New Application / Renewal Application” at the Residency and Stay Affairs Department of the Macao Public Security Police Force to obtain a “Residence Receipt”, which should be used to apply for a Non-Permanent Resident Macao Identity Card at the Identification Bureau.
