Tibet is a vast land with unique natural conditions. People on their first trip to Tibet are advised to go there by train given its complex terrain and high altitude. The main means of transportation in Tibet are buses and rental cars. If you want to participate in a cycling tour, please pay special attention to safety.
There is considerable variation in the climate in Tibet. It’s cold and dry in the northwest and warm and humid southeast. Tibet’s comfortable and refreshing summer is the ideal season to visit, compared with the cold spring, autumn and winter. However, travelers should not forget to keep warm and still prepare for cold weather given that temperature varies widely from day to night in areas with higher altitudes.
Because Tibet has a high altitude do not panic if you feel slight altitude sickness. Move to a place sheltered from the wind and rest immediately. If you are suffering severe altitude sickness—for example, if you are feeling slow, experiencing memory loss, loss of any of your senses, swelling, shock or convulsions—you should seek medical attention in a timely manner. People with heart conditions, high blood pressure, asthma, severe colds, the pregnant and women with anemia and hypoglycemia, and people younger than 8 years old or older than 60 years old are not recommended to visit places with high altitudes like Tibet.
