Guangzhou has been the capital of commerce and trade since ancient times. From the Qin and Han dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties, Guangzhou has been an important port city for China’s foreign trade.
As a city with a revolutionary tradition, many famous battles in China’s history have taken place in Guangzhou, including many uprising movements in modern history, such as the Second Guangzhou Uprising which fought against feudal rule in modern history, and the First Guangzhou Uprising.
Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Guangzhou has strengthened its industries, commerce, and trade amongst other aspects, and gradually developed from a consumer city to a producer city.
